Once in a while, reading a book or watching television, we come across our fictitious counterpart. Most of us (or at least those who are on Facebook) have taken a quiz, probably fairly recently, to determine who our counterpart is- Anne Shirley, Elizabeth Bennett, Belle, etc.
One of the quizzes that I took was on the "other" women in Disney movies. Leaving aside Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, etc., this quiz sorted you into characters like Mulan, Jane from Tarzan, Megara (Hercules), and Esmerelda (Hunchback of Notre Dame). It said that I was most like Megara, and I have decided that I like that. I like her independence and determination and her ability to "tie her own laces and everything". Similar to Meg, I tend to put up a wall around myself- it's easier to not get hurt that way.
Except I also think that I am like Mulan. She wants people to see that her value lies in not just doing what they expect of her but in being true to her heart. She was willing to sacrifice herself for her family and others that she loved. She is brave and selfless but is still kind and caring all at the same time.
So, I just need Disney to create a character that is a cross between Meg and Mulan and I'm set!
