Back in February or so, I went to see the moving Amazing Grace. I usually like historically based movies, whether or not they're based on true stories, and this has to be one of the best ones I have seen in a really long time. It's based on the story of Wiliam Wilberforce, a young member of Parliament at the end of the 18th century in England who worked to abolish the slave trade through the British Empire. It is amazing! (no pun intended). The acting is great, the story is incredible- I cried all throughout the movie. Wilberforce's minister growing up was John Newton, who wrote the song "Amazing Grace"- Newton was a former slave ship owner. I highly, highly recommend the movie. It came out on dvd today. It gets a big big two thumbs up!
Work has been so-so. I have meetings the next two nights- the one tomorrow shouldn't be too bad, but the city council meeting on Thursday has the potential to go really late. I have been seriously un-motivated the last couple of weeks- I need to find something to get my butt back into gear.
I'm excited for all of the holiday stuffs coming up- I have some vacation and comp time saved up, so I get 5 days off for Thanksgiving and I get to take off from December 21 to January 3 and get paid for the whole time.
I don't have much else exciting to write about. I had a lot of good stuff yesterday, but I have managed to forget what it was. Maybe I will remember it later.
