My High School Days

K, so this survey was on my friend Brittany's blog and I think it gives a pretty good idea of how high school was for me, mostly.

Did you date someone from your school? I went on dates with guys from my school, but didn't date anyone in particular.
What kind of car did you drive? When I got to drive, I drove my Mom & Dad's 13 passenger brown & yellow 1986 Chevy Van.
Did you pass your driver’s license test your first try? Yes, although I never have gotten the hang of paralell parking.
Were you a party animal? If by party animal, you mean did my friends and I get together every weekend and pretend to get drunk off of Martinellis and play fun games and eat 7-layer dip, then yes.
Were you considered a flirt? No- I still am not sure how to flirt.
Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? No, no and yes.
Were you a nerd? I wasn't a nerd so much as a not overly popular person who was comfortable with her set of friends and did well at school. But, I had friends that ran from serious nerd to super popular.
Were you on any varsity teams? Not so much, but I did letter in choir.
Did you ever get suspended/expelled? No, but I got kicked out of English class twice in one day in 10th grade. My teacher looked like she got stuck in a wind tunnel. That didn't have anything to do with it, she just looked that way. I think her name was Ms. Ayotte.
Can you still sing the fight song? Um no, 'cause I never learned either one of them.
Who were your favorite teachers? I loved pretty much all my teachers, except for the aforementioned English teacher. Mrs. Stanford (Oakton choir teacher), Mrs. Kenyon (Oakton geography teacher- I was her favorite 'cause she loved my older brother), Mr. Simmons (Highland AP History), and Coach Van Tree (Oakton PE) were particularly awesome. Then there were teachers that weren't necessarily the best teacher, but were funny- Mr. Brahaney (Oakton Biology) used the funniest facial expressions, particularly when it came to fire drills.
Where did you sit for lunch? In the cafeteria, at the same table every day- it was very close to the a la carte bar.
What is your school’s full name? Oakton High School (9/10) and Highland Senior High (11/12).
What is your school’s mascot and colors? Oakton Cougars (burgundy/gold) and Highland Rams (red/black/white)
Did you go to homecoming and with who? No- sad, I know. I never did in college either.
If you could go back and do it again would you? The only thing I would do different is do my junior/senior years combined. I had enough credits (at Oakton, there are 7 class periods in a day and no released-time seminary)when I moved to Idaho that I could have graduated a year early. But, I had great friends, so even that I'm not sure about.
What do you remember most about graduation? Wearing a University of Washington sweatshirt to the all-night party and our Senior Class President comparing herself to David Letterman (she had a big gap in her teeth).
Where did you go senior skip day? I don't remember if we had one or not, but we periodically skipped anyways, so we probably did nothing.
Were you in any clubs? Key Club (pres. my senior year), Future Homemakers of America, Drama (that wasn't a club so much as just a class)
Have you gained some weight since then? Um, yes, yes I have. It's not like I'm twice the size I was, but I'm pretty sure I would disgust people if I tried to fit into my pants from then.
Who was your prom date? Junior Prom- it was a blind date. His name was Matt Stokes- he was from Idaho Falls. He was a hottie. Senior prom- Evan Frasure. I was friends with his older brother and I'm pretty sure one of our other friends convinced him to ask me to prom so that our whole group of friends would have dates. I wore this dress that was puffy- I could sit down and it would balloon up all around me. We went to prom in a minivan. Good times.
Are you planning on going to your 10 year reunion? It was 3 years ago, and yes, I went. It was fun to see everyone and see who has kids, who is divorced, who is still an idiot.
Did you have a job in high school? When I was in 9th grade, I had a job during Halloween season at a haunted forest. I was friends with a bunch of seniors from other high schools- they wanted to adopt me and take me to see Rocky Horror Picture Show and do weird things to me in front of other people. Thank you Mom for not letting me go! My senior year, I worked at a dry cleaners. It was not nearly as exciting.
