My Dream Come True, Sort Of

So, this summer I decided to take myself on a vacation to see my friends Britta and Joey. They live in Washington D.C. We decided to take ourselves north to Lancaster County and see some Amish things and then on to NYC. It was great- I think the funniest thing about Lancaster County was that our hotel, a lovely HoJo, had a Caribbean themed indoor water park, complete with tiki torches in the lobby of the hotel for a little advertising and a palm-tree slide in the middle of the pool. We toured an Amish farm and learned all sorts of stuff- they have ways around all of their restrictions. I think the picture of the pots in the window (it's the summer kitchen) is really cool- it's awesome in b&w. And, there is nothing like some good old farm equipment.

The day after we went to Lancaster, we headed to NYC for fun times. We walked everywhere and did loads of stuff- Trinity Church (the location of the treasure in National Treasure- very cool but we couldn't go into the basement); Ground Zero (you can't see much over the scaffolding, but still somber); went to the top of the Empire State Building; and lastly, for Seinfeld afficianados, we ate at Tom's restaurant.

But, the ultimate thing for me, natually for all of those of you who know me at all, was the baseball game at Yankee Stadium! The only downside of it was that it was so hot! We ended up leaving at the 7th inning stretch- my feet were swollen, we were dripping with sweat, still had a 6 hour car ride ahead of us that day and the Yankees were winning.

Overall, I give this trip a hearty two thumbs up! I even ran into a lady from Chubbuck- she and her husband have been there on a mission and were doing some touring before they went home. How random is that?
