This week. I took off Thursday and Friday and headed to Women's Conference at BYU with Mom and Heather. We had a blast! We had to stay in Heber City because there were no rooms anywhere in Provo or surrounding areas. Since it is only a 30 minute drive down a canyon, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Heber. It was a great time! The hotel had a pool and jacuzzi (tres fun- I haven't done underwater handstands in ages and I love just floating on my back). It also had cookis at the front desk and a reasonably decent continental breakfast. Even though I didn't sleep well either night we were there, the hotel was great. I think my favorite part of the hotel was seeing Mom race Heather down the hall to our room.
We ate at a really fun place while we were there. I had someone recommend a place that was right in the same paring lot as our hotel. We got there sat down, looked at how much it cost, got up and walked out. There was a $5 dish of mushrooms- the next cheapest thing was $15 and it went up from there. So, we asked the desk clerk at out hotel what was good for dinner and he recommended a place called The Cobbler House. It was a house that someone had built a diner on the back of. It was so, so, so good! Mom and Heather both had fabulous soups and then we had sandwiches- I had the most tasty french dip sandwich ever! They roasted the meat in something so tasty and then it was thickly sliced. Oh, so, good!!!!! We also all got tasty cobbler with our dessert- mine was boysenberry. If you're ever in Heber City, I 100%recommend a dinner or lunch visit to The Cobbler House- it's on Main Street, about a block North of the high school.
Okay, now to the real point of the weekend- Women's Conference was great! It was so good to be uplifted and to feel like "hey, I'm doing okay". I went to a lot of different classes- from gifts of the spirit to why it's okay to be single.
The highlight of the week was Friday afternoon- Pres. Monson was the closing speaker. There were 20,000 women in the Marriot Center all gabbing and being generally noisy, but as soon as he walked in with his entourage, the entire place stood and went absolutely still. A minute or so later, a group of women sitting near us starting singing "We Thank Thee O God For A Prophet" and it spread quickly through the entire room. It was kind of cool because even though we were in the wrong key, the gal sitting at the organ picked up in the middle of the song in whatever key we were in. There was hardly a dry eye in the audience as we sang. Such an amazing man and an amazing spirit about him. He talked about the threads common to every woman. It was so incredible and reasuuring to hear him speak and express his love for us as the sisters in the church. He truly is a prophet of God.
I had such a fantastic time! I loved hanging out with Mom and Heather. We also spent a good part of the two days with Aunt Jane and her girls Jody and Janelle and Jody's mother-in-law Patty. Then we ran into Aunt Linda and her friend Loretta. All 9 of us sat together for the closing session and had a blast talking and eating and just having an overall grand time. I think probably my favorite thing was when me, Heather and Mom all snuggled onto one bed at the hotel after a good soak in the jacuzzi and attempted to watch "Return to Me". I say attempted because Heather and I both fell asleep and Mom watched most of the movie by herself.
All in all, two big hearthy thumbs up. I highly recommend Women's Conference for anyone who hasn't ever gone.

I would like to make it to Women's Conference eventually. I heard it was wonderful. Sounds like you had a fun adventure in Heber! But you are welcome to come stay with me anytime you are in the Utah County area- I live in Lehi right now. We should plan a get together sometime!
Sounds so fun! I wish I could have gone with you. Hopefully next year I'll get to go. It sounds like such fun!
